Inclusion Melbourne is Victoria’s oldest day service for adults with an intellectual disability. We believe that people with a disability should be able to live in an inclusive community, supported by people who genuinely care for them, and have the same opportunities to participate in community life. We have also been supporting the socially isolated members of the community since 2014.
What is the Friendly Visitors Scheme?
The Friendly Visitor Scheme helps elderly people living in their homes to feel less lonely. It does this by finding them a friend who can visit them and keep them company.
What does a Friendly Visitor do?
Friendly visitor roles are matched to older people based on interest, needs and locality. Volunteer visitors spend approximately 2 hours a week with an older person doing an activity that both enjoy either in their home or the local community. At visits you might like to have a chat, have morning or afternoon tea, listen to music, watch TV or a DVD, go for a short walk, do some craft or read a book.
Availability: Weekdays or Weekends
Minimum Commitment: 12 Months
Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a Friendly Visitor.
