LONGBEACH UKES Inc. (LUKES) is a friendly and vibrant music club, featuring the ukulele. LUKES is about having fun, singing your heart out, enjoying music, learning to play and master the ukulele and mixing with like-minded people from within the community.

Love music, but MISSING the fun of participating?

Haven't a venue for the MUSICAL YOU to emerge?

LUKES gets people of all ages out of their comfort zone, offers new friends, new activities, and contributes significantly to community wellbeing - both as a community club and externally by using the power of music & song to encourage personal participation, fun and joy.

Our group plays many different types of music that include about a century of favourites. These cover popular wartime songs, variety tunes, rock, pop, blues, folk and contemporary songs of the mid to late 20th Century. Our eclectic range of music is easy to play and great to sing along to.

We also have special theme evenings such as 60s, Elvis, Beatles, Celtic nights, Rock ‘n Roll, Footy Songs, Christmas songs, Halloween, the Blues, Country and Western, Rock Legends and many more.

We have a wide repertoire with access to a library of more than a thousand songs. Our club has developed three main songbooks and a variety of themed books.

Running beginner’s programs, workshops, programming periodical experienced ukulele performers to encourage and lecture. Operate Open Mic nights, where any member can rise and sing, play,  regardless of their ability to perform. The experience is liberating, with members utilising a range of Ukes plus other musical instruments.

Longbeach Ukes has a sub-group of performers known as the Lukes Entertainment Group (LEGS). We perform at community events, aged care facilities, festivals and the like. The size of our performing group is usually around 10 people, depending on your needs.
