About this site

What is My Community Life?

My Community Life is a free online marketing website for community groups and organisations to list their details, events, activities and volunteering opportunities. This provides a resource for residents to find out how they can be involved in community life in the City of Kingston.

How does it work?

For organisations and clubs

My Community Life works with “user-generated content”, which means that you have control of your pages, and can change your details and listings as often as you need.

Click on the My Profile tab on the home page to see how easy it is to register. You are required to read and accept the Terms and Conditions before using the site.

For residents

The My Community Life website allows you to search for activities, events and volunteering opportunities that are on offer within the City of Kingston. Listings can be filtered by suburb, date and type to ensure you find the information that interests you. The site also provides resources such as maps, public transport options and the ability to link to Facebook and Twitter if you’d like to share what you’ve found with friends.

The My Community Life website puts an end to flicking through out-of-date community directories and provides one place to find out about the diversity of community life in Kingston.

Why was this developed?

Finding a simple and effective way to get local information to local residents was prioritised by the Chelsea Community Renewal Steering Committee after community consultations were held in Chelsea and Bonbeach. The Committee recognised the importance of supporting local organisations to increase their membership, particularly those without the resources for online marketing.

Chelsea Community Renewal was successful in receiving funding from the State Government’s Flexible Fund for the creation of the new community website. The overall objective for this funding was for Council to redevelop the existing community directory with a focus on creating greater community knowledge and promotion of Kingston’s community groups and organisations.

The result is a community-led, Council-supported website which showcases the vital contribution made by our volunteer-based organisations. It gives residents great opportunity to find out how they can be involved in community life in the City of Kingston.

The City of Kingston acknowledges the funding contribution made by the State Government of Victoria for the development of this website, supporting resources and the delivery of community training sessions.
