Do you speak French? Would you like to make a difference to the life of an older person who is socially isolated?
We’re looking for a Volunteer Community Visitor in the Mordialloc area who can share their language skills for social visits once a fortnight.
Our CVS Volunteers visit lonely and socially isolated older people to help them stay connected to the community through regular social visits.
Central Bayside Community Health Services (CBCHS) is a not-for-profit organisation providing a wide range of services to support healthy living, general wellbeing and social connection in our community. The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a Government funded program that matches a volunteer visitor with a lonely or isolated person living in an aged care facility or in their own home. The Volunteer and resident are matched according to similar interests or background. The visits are regular, either weekly or fortnightly, with the intention of developing an ongoing friendship and social connectedness.
Louis is a keen gardener and enjoys getting out for a walk and a coffee. He follows the AFL and is interested in war documentaries and likes watching the Simpsons! Louis would really appreciate some help from a volunteer to help read his correspondence as written English can be a bit challenging for him. He is well- travelled with a vibrant personality and a great sense of humour. Louis would benefit greatly from a regular visitor who shares his language skills. You could even take your dog along!
We provide ongoing training and support to all our volunteers. Apply now or learn more about the Community Visitor Scheme by using the following link: -
