Community Visitor - bring joy to others this holiday season
Can you bring joy this holiday season to a person who needs it most?
The holiday season can be a sad and difficult time of the year for many vulnerable people in our community who experience loneliness and social isolation. Your companionship could make all the difference.
Central Bayside Community Health Services (CBCHS) is a not-for-profit organisation providing a wide range of services to support healthy living, general wellbeing and social connection in our community. Our purpose is to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals through innovative, responsive services delivered in partnership with our community.
The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a government funded program that matches a volunteer visitor with a lonely or isolated person living in an aged care facility or in their own home. The Volunteer and resident are matched according to similar interests or background. The visits are regular and purely social, with the intention of developing an ongoing friendship and social connectedness.
We ask that potential volunteers consider making the commitment for at least 12 months and that visits occur for one hour once a fortnight, as a minimum (but you can visit more often if you like!). Visits are in the Kingston and Bayside areas.
We provide ongoing training and support to all our volunteers. Apply now or learn more by visiting Volunteer for the Community Visitors Scheme.
