Interchange Host Volunteer
MOIRA has an exciting opportunity for anyone with a genuine interest in helping children with a range of abilities. The Interchange Host Program is seeking volunteers who are responsible, enthusiastic and fun to host a child up to the age of 18 with a disability, usually for one day a month, or on a flexible basis that suits both parties. The program is designed to enable a young person to have time out from their typical routine, to enjoy broader recreational activities in a different environment. This may include visiting a local park, going for a bike ride or going to see a movie. When matching volunteers with a child, we carefully consider common interests, lifestyle and flexibility to make the best match possible. Anyone who is 18 years or older can be a host, whether they are single, in a relationship or part of a family. We just ask for at least a 12 month commitment in order to provide a consistent and reliable service to young people and their families.
