We are seeking a Garden Program Leader volunteer to join Kingston’s Gardens for Wildlife team and help us create a community Garden Program at Melaleuca Activity Hub in Clarinda.
Kingston’s Gardens for Wildlife program is a free program that helps residents increase habitat in their gardens; it provides garden assessments, educational resources and opportunities for residents to learn more about native plants and habitat gardening.
This role will assist in the expansion of the Gardens for Wildlife program by creating opportunities for local residents to engage in gardening activities and to connect socially whilst learning more about native plants, biodiversity and habitat creation in a community setting.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
- Lead the establishment of a new Garden Program at Melaleuca Activity Hub
- Facilitate and plan activities and quarterly working bees
- Develop relationships with members and foster a culture of inclusion
- Induct new members into the group
- Communicate with Council staff on needs and requirements for the group
A minimum of 4 hours per week is requested with a requested minimum commitment of 6 months.
The precise hours and days of volunteering will be negotiated to meet both the availability of the volunteer and the needs of Council.
Ideally, the Melaleuca Garden Program Leader will work with other volunteers at Melaleuca Activity Hub at least once per fortnight.
