Time Required

Multiple positions - Mon: 12pm-1pm or Thur:10am-11am or Thur:1.30pm-2.30pm (for jockey roles allow 90min before and after the program)

Volunteer Duties:
  1. Assist in set up of chairs & equipment prior to class, including providing a glass of water for all participants
  2. Assist Driver, Program leader and Facility Manager to carry out and maintain COVID Safe practices throughout all duties.
  3. Assist with collection of participants by bus (jockey) and on arrival at the centre assisting them to make their way to the program area and find their place
  4. Assist clients on arrival and at departure as required
  5. If you are on the stage during the program - model the seated low impact version as supervised by the program leader
  6. Ensure to confirm with tutor and understand the correct low impact movements prior to starting
  7. Help clean up hall when program finished e.g. move display panels, stack chairs, (no heavy lifting)
  8. Assist participants to make their way out of the building as required when class is over
  9. Assist with the transport home of participants on the bus (jockey)

Skills Required:

  1. A supporting and non-patronising manner
  2. Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly
  3. Good level of personal fitness
  4. Appreciation of correct techniques in exercising
  5. Ability to take and follow instruction

Training:

- Orientation to Sandybeach Centre

- On-the-job training by relevant staff

- Opportunity to attend relevant training courses and workshops at Sandybeach Centre

- Access to other training and workshops where applicable

 

Background Checks Required:

 Police Check, WWCC, DWES (organised through the centre)
