Theatre production

Short term

Mordialloc Theatre Company is always on the lookout for active members.  There is certainly more to belonging to a theatre company than appearing on stage.

For each production we are allocated four days to build our sets, going from bare stage to finished setting, be it house, farm, interior, exterior, abstract or highly detailed.  Basic home handyman skills are all that is required, and both males and females are welcome.  Even these can be taught on the job! If you are able to help for only one of those four days, this can make a big difference to the workload.  Lunch is provided, and anyone who assists on a show in any capacity will get a free ticket for that show.  Best of all, the set build is a great deal of fun and a great opportunity to put some of your creative skills to use for a good cause.

If you have an interest in interior design you might like to assist us with set dressing – finding furniture and decorator items to complement the set.  Also, the collection of the various properties used in a show, such as crockery, glassware, or even puppets, needs people willing to seeking out exactly the right items.

There are so many activities involved in producing a high-quality stage play, and we would love to think that you might choose this as a new hobby.  Any help that you can give us will be greatly appreciated.  And of course, as with any leisure activity, the primary object is to enjoy yourself and have fun, which we do.

If you would like to join us, or seek more information, please contact Martin Gibbs on 0411 645 003, Geoff Arnold on 0410 483 151 or Juliet Hayday on 0438 702 864.
