If you have experience working in Australia and have a spare 1-2 hours during the week to provide encouragement and advice to a migrant or refugee looking for work, we welcome you to apply to be a mentor in this program.
You would provide one-to-one mentoring, coaching and assistance to help one or two migrant job-seekers apply for employment, improve their interview skills and increase their chances of successfully obtaining a job. You can choose whether you support one or two jobseekers, and whether you want to meet with them weekly or fortnightly.
You would only be required to have mentoring meetings at Dixon House in Clayton, although we may be able to arrange another office space that is located more conveniently for both yourself and your mentee/s.
An experienced employment consultant is available to provide coaching to any of the volunteer mentors who wish to access it. This can cover diverse areas, such as: (i) jobsearch skills and knowledge; (ii) motivational skills; or (iii) understanding the common mindsets of migrant job-seekers.
Please see the attached Position Description for selection criteria. To apply, please complete the application form provided at the link below. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please email Lorien Vecellio at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 9543 8911 (Mon 10-1, Tue-Thu 10-3).
